Sports Injuries & Rehab
With her clinic experience and extensive work with local rugby clubs and Surrey County youth sides Sophie has acquired a proficient knowledge of injuries, especially acute, and first aid practice.
Rehabilitation exercises can help you recover from an injury as well as make you stronger to avoid reinjury.
.
As a Sports Therapist there are limitations to our knowledge and training, if Sophie feels that the injury she is shown is beyond her scope she will refer you to another practitioner or consultant with your consent.
Sophie is also an APPI Pilates instructor (qualified in September 2020) mainly doing Standing and Mat Pilates for strength, balance and rehab.
A Sports Therapist is trained to use Sports Massage, which includes Remedial Bodywork. This is primarily a deep tissue massage using various techniques designed to identify and rectify soft tissue problems. The main benefits are that it can reduce muscle soreness, release tension, both deep and superficial, thus improve mobility and circulation.
Sports Massage is not only for those who participate in a sport! Many of us spend hours a day sitting using a computer or on the phone. This can lead to the adoption of poor posture which can lead to pain, stiffness, discomfort or tension in the back, neck and shoulders, even headaches. Sports Massage can help to alleviate these complaints and with advice on posture can reduce the recurrence of these problems.
